Why Superheroes?

Why would anyone want to be a superhero? In this day and age, you might hear that from normal folks. If you're appalled at the question and feel that there needs to be no explanation, then YOU, my friend, are that much closer to dawning tights and a cape!

People like to point out the various CONs (and negative notions) of being a superhero, like:
  • Vigilantism is illegal. Superheroes are vigilantes. Therefore, superheroes work illegally.
  • Bullets go through spandex like a hot knife through butter.
  • People who want to be superheroes obviously have some sort of psychosis.
  • The world doesn't need superheroes, we have police.
All of these (and whatever else you can think of) does not make for a hero-friendly environment. Lets think about heroism. If someone wants to wear a superhero costume and uphold justice, then obviously the police cannot handle the amount of crime in that location since someone has gone to drastic measures.

Spandex. Spandex/lycra works as a great base for a costume. It allows freedom of movement and is easily replaceable. Contrary to popular belief, not all superheroes wear spandex. Many incorporate bullet-proof vests or items in their costume as well.

Psychosis, or mental illness. Is it wrong to have the urge to fight for justice and right the wrongs? This is a much debated issue, but I don't feel that there's anything wrong with folks wanting to be superheroes, though there are exceptions in every case. I believe they'd tag superheroes under the "Delusions of Grandeur" category.

Finally, if the world didn't need superheroes, then no one would be out there dressed as a superhero. Look around people, they are out there, you just haven't noticed.

I'd like to take a moment to point out the PROs of super-heroism.
  • You can rest safely at night knowing that [enter superhero name here] is out on patrol.
  • The antics of [enter superhero name here] will give you something to talk about around the water-cooler.
  • To quote Metcalf from "The Tick": "Life is a quantity versus quality issue." You don't just become super overnight, you must first go through a hard process of trying to figure out your life goals and what you need to do in order to feel that you have met your worth.

For those of you who are interested in superheroes or in becoming a superhero, WE SUPPORT YOU! If you have questions, we have answers!

We urge any business owners to put up signs like the one to your right. The "We Serve Superheroes" sign will grant you more business from those brightly-clad do-gooders of justice and might just bring some hero/civilian harmony to your community.

Questions? Comments? Ring my bell tootsie roll.

How Things Work

So this is a brief on how this site works.

The authors of this blog are to your left. If you have any questions or emails for them, then obviously you'd contact them. If you leave a comment for one of the authors, make sure you say something like "Hey Nyx, what do you think about that news article?" or something like that. If you don't make any sort of address to a particular author, then it's up for grabs (response-wise).

Underneath the authors, you will find the Hero Files. These are the files that the blog keeps on superheroes, superhero movies, etc. If you want to be added to a file or if you want some information added to a file, please contact NYX since she's in charge of updating the Hero Files. You are able to add yourself to the frappr map though.

To the right, you will find a list of Allies, Hero Support, and Outfitters. The Allies, while seemingly self-explanatory, is a list of superheroes (must have a link!). Hero Support, while not being superheroes or superhero teams this is a list of links that just might help out any superheroes. You can find Hero Machine in Hero Support, which can help you create a uniform or update your old uniform. The Outfitters is simply a list of links of places that might help you get your uniform basics (i.e. spandex, boots, gloves, masks, etc).

This blog is also going to operate on comments. If you ask us a question in the comments section, be assured that you will get a response in the next post.

If there is something that I missed here that you want to know about, let me know and I'll cover it.

What Are We About?

Greetings, Aloha, and Bonjour!

If you are here, you are probably wondering what the Justice Diner is all about. The Justice Diner is all about serving you one big, hot, steamy pile of righteousness that every superhero needs a daily helping of...pure justice. Within the boundaries of this simple blog you'll find everything from "How To's" to superhero movies/tv to costume building.

That's Right!

If you have a question, we have an answer. I say "we" because I plan on having another contributer/author for this blog.
